Campaign Against Homophobia – Toruń
Most people associate Toruń with Nicolaus Copernicus, gingerbread biscuits (pierniki), the gothic old town listed by UNESCO. Others think of Father Rydzyk’s media empire and its loud “Radio Maria”. But now that’s not all. Toruń has become one of Poland’s centres opposing homophobia. On the 31 January 2006 the first, still unofficial, meeting of the Toruń branch of KPH (Committee Against Homophobia) took place.
”...and from then on KPH is now also my group, organisation fighting for your and my rights, for everyone’s rights, not just for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals, but for everyone, who wants to live in his/her own way, everyone who dared to step out of the mainstream dictated by the generally accepted norms of partnership, life as a couple…” (aroo)
We would like life according to one’s own vision to not be seen as an attack against Polish tradition, but that the right to freedom became part of our culture.
