Tibet Autonomous Region

  • What film? “TIBET: THE HISTORY OF A TRAGEDY” is a film critical of the human rights violations in the Tibet Autonomous Region of P.R.China.

Is the Free Tibet movement just a British/CIA plot to divide P.R.China up into 30 or 40 different independent ethnic-based states? Britain and Russia have used military action againt China since over a century in order to try to control Xinjiang and Tibet.

Will a patriarchal, hierarchical, religious government in Tibet independent of P.R.Chinese capitalist, “all-China” (ogólno-chińskie) methods of government be an improvement for the people of Tibet? Do they want partial autonomy or total independence?

Come along and discuss after the film.

  • where? At the LaLucza Alternative Space (ul.Podmurna 30/4 in Torun town centre)
  • when? Thursday 10 Jan at 19:00
  • after the film there’ll be discussion – during the film: veggie food, coffee, tea…

    Extracts from:

    • 1 The view of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile
    • 2 The view of the Chinese Government
    • 3 Third-Party views

    1. ... Dalai Lama has recently stated that he wishes only for Tibetan autonomy, and not separation from China, under certain democratic conditions, like freedom of speech and expression and genuine self-rule.

Another view supported by a number of international groups including the Free Tibet Campaign is that Tibet should be granted total independence from China…
